Industry Sector - Forestry

Perennial Economics can undertake economic analyses of regional forestry industries. A typical assessment will provide estimates of the economic impact of a range of forest plantation development scenarios over a period of 20-30 years. The net economic impact of a forest plantation development scenario will take account of the likely alternative use of the land to avoid overstating the net contribution of the industry.

Impact assessments will generally include the processing sectors – milling, wood and paper products, etc – to provide an estimate of the whole forestry and timber industry value chain including carbon sequestion.

Data collection typically involves surveys of the relevant forestry and timber processing firms as well as sourcing relevant publications, electronic data, etc. from the relevant regional and state agencies.
